winter holidays have begun

The kids are on their mid year school break for the next 2 weeks. So far there has been birthday parties, sleep overs and hanging out with family all in the last 4 days!!. Yikes!!!

Yesterday we kicked the ball in the back paddock amongst the (fresh) cow dung. Next time we shall leave the ball behind and take a bag with us to collect the dung for the garden. Thinking its better this way than collecting it on our shoes whilst running to catch a ball!

Though it certainly gave us all a laugh when one of us would land in a cow pat!

Setting these toys up for a photograph reminded me of when i was a child and we had our class photo. These guys sat still which made it easy!

sister in laws :)

There have been snippets in today where i have been able to get some more work complete for a wholesale order due soon. Here are some visuals of on my table and on my wall which consume me as i work.

 

The ever so large pin cushion which I find invaluable was made for me by one of my sister in laws 5 years ago ...i love it so big!, and i didn't mention in my last post that the beautiful fabric hanging in our lounge room was given to me by my other sister in law which was extremely generous. Thankyou to you two beautiful women who are a big part of my life! You make me smile :))))

O its monday!

I found this wonderful book on the weekend at the local bookstore. I love how it encourages the art of a good scribble. Both m&o are loving it! Freedom to scribble.

I am in love with Amy Arnolds Peep Wools.... would love to have one of these sitting on my couch one day.

our 'Scout'

 Just thought I'd leave you at the end of the week with a few photos of 'Scout'.

She's one awesome dog with plenty of character and beautiful nature. 6 months old...still a pup but weighing more than Oaks (she wasnt too sure about the trampoline, although she was the one who wanted to get on with Oaks...she got off pretty quickly after this photo). 

She's our friend, companion and chewer of all things!!

We put all the names into a hat tonight, shuffled it around and Max dipped in and drew out...Elisabeth... congratulations, i hope you enjoy your new brooch.

Ochre, on seeing the action at the table, wanted to take part in the fun as well. So, as 'udder' turned 2, it only felt right to do another dip...so we did!

She joined us at the table in her outfit and closed her eyes (shut tight!). And out came Sarada! congratulations Sarada, there will be a brooch coming your way too, this one a surprise as it is still in the making - I am making 7 at the moment to restock the shop on monday.

kindling

As 'Udder' turned 2 so did 'Kindling'. 

We launched our work the same night (at our local community hall!) and what followed from there was a shared stall at the Eumundi markets for the next 5 months. It was an experience for both of us... very early mornings on a saturday and making enough pieces for the stall during the week. I would often find myself late at night on the friday hammering eyelets into fabric scraps to hang off my tags although I so needed to get to bed.

Since then we have both tinkered along and finally Nina has got herself a blog.

She makes the most beautiful Men's shirts and t-shirts (my husband has about 3 and is after more), gorgeous cards (which are printed on recycled paper) and the occasional children's t-shirt (more on the horizon). 

All this goodness printed and sewn with love and ethical practice. Am loving it!

udder turns 2 today

 

Today Udder turns 2 ... (as does my nephew Harry .... Happy birthday HB!).

It has been an amazing few years and each day I make an Udder friend i enjoy it as much as i did when i first started making them 2 years ago...it feels good to get here and also see the change that has developed in my work over this time!

To celebrate i would like to give away this brooch.
